Calling all “Hearts & Hands”!
Spring is finally here! And with spring this year comes the launching of our new missions trip program we are calling “Hearts & Hands”. Through this effort, we are hoping to provide a very organized, Christ-centered approach to hosting missions trips and volunteer teams on campus. So please take a minute to view our new Heart & Hands brochure, and if you’d like us to mail you a hard copy of the brochure for you or your small group or church, please email us and let us know!
With our wonderful new house parents, Phill and Erin Parsons, living on campus in our second home and ready to receive girls in need, there’s such a renewal of spirit and excitement in the air! Phill and our longtime Construction Manager, Ron Eddins, will be supervising work crews together this year, and we are really looking forward to all God will accomplish through Phill, Ron, and our many volunteers!
So much amazing work was accomplished over the last year. During our “Landscape the Park Week” volunteer teams did such a great job laying the groundwork for the children’s playground and the basketball court. Many families, groups and organizations came out to help and so many good times were had as everyone worked side by side.
New friendships were forged and relationships were bonded as everyone felt God’s presence in the scenic surroundings. As New Song's Executive Director Bob Schloss said, “The joy and excitement of working alongside of volunteers on campus is something our staff and I always thoroughly enjoy, and I’m looking forward to seeing both new and familiar faces on campus this year.”
There is always something for everyone to do, from jobs that require skilled labor such as carpentry, to tasks that take just the willingness to lend a helping hand. We hope to complete our third campus home by the end of August this year, and so those with home construction skills are especially needed. There is also a large amount of groundskeeping and trail maintenance that needs done on the 100 acre campus, so teen youth groups, adult small groups, and others are really needed.
“Our hope is to help our volunteers grow in their relationship with Christ Jesus while serving out on campus,” said Bob. “Being out on campus in the beauty that God created in Brown County provides a wonderful environment to experience the glory of God through creation.”
Hearts and Hands work teams can choose to serve for a week, a few days, or even a single day. We’d love to have you out on campus this spring or summer, as the Lord leads you. We think you’ll be blessed through the experience!
