A Summer Of Many Blessings

A Summer Of Many Blessings

This summer for New Song was jam-packed with historic milestones, significant collaborative efforts, and exciting advances toward serving children. We are open and ready for kids, which we would not be able to share without the tremendous, continued support and work of all of our many ministry friends and partners!

Please read below about the many ways the Lord blessed New Song this summer.

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)

Summer blessings prepare New Song's campus for children

There was a flurry of construction and grounds keeping activity on campus this summer! We are so grateful to the many groups and individuals that made it out to campus for their hard work. Some of the exciting progress that was made this summer includes:

Essential plumbing, carpentry, and masonry volunteer work in Home B has prepared us to be able to open this home in the near future!

The families at New Song will use trails cut throughout the woods on campus, not only to get from place to place, but also as a part of campus recreation.

The refinishing of docks prepared them for use in the pond, thanks to the generous donation of these docks to New Song.

Important excavation work has prepared the way for a recreational park on campus, which will include a playground, basketball court, kickball field, climbing hill, and memorial walkway.

Nearly the entire 40-hour houseparent training program was completed over the summer. This training has prepared and equipped New Song staff to serve kids on campus!

Important outreach to potential child referral sources began this summer. New Song reached out to over 30 churches and agencies that serve kids and families who are in crisis to inform them 1) that we are open, 2) who we can best serve, and 3) how to reach us.

Since July of this year, the number of Safe & Sound sponsors supporting Home A has more than doubled! We are incredibly grateful to the 35 NEW Safe & Sound sponsors for joining this vital giving program.

New Song’s Academic Program has taken critical steps forward this summer! An educational curriculum has been chosen, and the classroom in Home A is ready for learning.

The Recreation Program has also made advancements this summer with the Recreation Development Team working to develop a comprehensive, impactful campus recreation program and the site preparation for the recreational park.

A van was purchased this summer, which further equips Home A for kids. This van will enable them to transport up to 8 children at one time to various activities like church, to the YMCA, or on educational trips.

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of the widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” (Psalm 68:5)

Summer blessings prepare the ministry for children

All gifts are extremely important to the vitality and effectiveness of New Song Mission, and we are very grateful to all of our many and valued ministry friends for their support this summer! Gifts of $20,000 for the recreational park, a matching gift of $20,000 to Safe & Sound, and an anonymous gift of $50,000 have all been incredible blessings to New Song as we prepare to care for kids.

The New Song offices have moved locations and we are blessed to be in an office building that accommodates our growing needs and staff. New Song is so grateful to Columbus Alliance Church for their graciousness in sharing their offices with us over the past several years.

New Song was very blessed to have Ethan Mathews and Macey Thornburg as interns this summer! They were a huge help with campus work teams and were always willing to do whatever was needed. Both Ethan and Macey also did important research and outreach to local churches and businesses. Their hard work has—and will continue—to help New Song grow.

Thank you to all New Song supporters for being the hands and feet of Christ and how you have helped to prepare us for this exciting time!! It is the hope of New Song that you are blessed by this ministry and will continue to serve the fatherless alongside us!

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27)
